Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep in Waukegan, Illinois partnered with Verde Solutions to reduce energy costs and operate more sustainably while supporting its mission of preparing students for success in college and in life. Verde designed and installed a 447.36 kW-DC rooftop solar system featuring 932 solar modules and 3 inverters. The ballasted system required no mechanical roof attachments or penetrations, preserving roof integrity while maximizing available space. Over its 30-year lifespan, the system is projected to generate 15,749,284 kWh of clean electricity and offset approximately 11,162 metric tons of COâ‚‚ emissions. From planning through installation, the project was executed seamlessly, resulting in a positive experience for the school and immediate progress toward long-term energy savings.
Verde Solutions delivered a customized, non-penetrating ballasted rooftop solar array tailored to the school’s facility and financial goals. The system helps lower operating expenses by reducing reliance on utility power while providing predictable, long-term energy savings. Designed for durability and performance, the installation aligns with the school’s values of stewardship and forward-thinking investment in its future. By integrating solar into campus operations, Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep demonstrates how educational institutions can pair fiscal responsibility with environmental leadership, creating lasting benefits for both students and the broader community.
